A customer who travels a long distance every year for our blueberries e-mailed me today. She said this of our wild blueberres:

“About a year after I began putting them in the smoothie I drink every morning, I noticed I no longer have the joint pain I had off-and-on for the last 30 years.”

Fascinated, I began researching the possible connections between alleviated joint pain and wild blueberries.  Though I don’t know the specific reason for this customer’s pain, I did learn that blueberries are good for easing arthritis symptoms.

According to the Arthritis Foundation, the antioxidant power in blueberries protects the body against inflammation and free radicals, molecules that can damage cells and organs.

Blueberries contain 20 types of anthocyanin – antioxidants that give berries their blue-violet and red colors. Other berries contain only three or four types.
