It was mechanically harvested on Friday, August 12. \u00a0There were very large, beautiful patches of huge blueberries left, and the hand picking could easily have gone on for another week, but it is our farm&#8217;s tradition to mechanically harvest the U-Pick field once all the other fields have been harvested. \u00a0This year&#8217;s harvest was the quickest in recent years due to the unbelievably dry harvesting conditions.<\/p>\n<p>Chilling in the cold room this morning is a large quantity of our blueberries. \u00a0Soon four members of this year&#8217;s incredible crew will arrive to begin the last session of fresh packing for the season. \u00a0The last day is always a bitter sweet day for me. \u00a0The 2-3 week season is always intense and it taxes us physically; we are all ready for a rest. \u00a0But I am also sad to see it end knowing I won&#8217;t have the privilege of seeing such wonderful, hard-working young people each day,<\/p>\n<p>Today&#8217;s blueberries are\u00a0big and beautiful, and we are thankful for this year&#8217;s crop. The schedule is full, but we may have an extra box or two by the end of the processing day.
